So I entered on the last day, I've missed it for years for various reasons, and I could find another excuse this year, but may as well ride and not miss out...

Entry - R6500 (late entry could have been 5k)
Fuel for the bus - R2500
Fuel for the bike R1000
5l disposable drums - R150
2 x double green terra force - R2600
1 c19 fron front George250 - R500
Sleep in my bus - R0
Pit crew - R0
Food - R1500
Bike prep is just the usual oil and oil filter - R300
+- R15 050...

Call it 20k worst case... All you ever hear is people bitching they spent 60k on roof.... NO you spent 25k on Roof, and 35k on crap you didnt need....

Keep in mind. You have a new bike.
My biggest expense is spending money on parts that I feel are still fine but dont want to risk not finishing due to mechanical failure.
Also having spares like levers etc which I would normally only replace when broken

And the biggest expense is the amount of riding leading up to roof. When you are training and not social riding the costs pile up just due to normal wear and tear and maintenance

But yes, agree, some completely overdo it

Love this, my next Roof will be done this way. I think there must be a Malle Moto class at the Roof.

Think if there is such a class I will enter it.
The priorities of my "support team"/friends are
1. Beer
2. Watch the gold boys
3. Give fuel and food to suffering friend

A lot of racing expenses get artificially inflated to milk sponsors.

Fact guaranteed. You get sponges everywhere.
I actually dont have words.
Would feel too guilty to just send in my basic expenses, nevermind inflated ones

Good luck, I hope this goes well, keen to see you irritate a few sponsored riders as well.:thumbs up:

*also does the money saving here mean you putting it away to buy other round things(not tyres), I see there is plenty of pressure on the book of faces....

Correct. But I have seen many guys inflate costs to play the sympathy card. You must understand you get givers and you get takers. Givers have to set limits because takers seldom do.

A case in point. Sponsorship request from a midpack mx 125 rider.

Fuck me, that is ridiculous.
How about driving down, offer to take others bikes with and be the courier. Fuel and all transport covered.
Sleep in the van or tent, accommodation covered
Do your own fucking labour, probably the cheekiest move on that card:icon_eek:
