31 May 2019
The main rides, Serendipity and Mhara are not Newbie rides. They are less than intermediate, but you need to be able to ride. Newbies and kids – I will take you guys on a ride on the Mhara farm after the main ride is done.
The Serendipity ride is optional on Friday 31st at 14:00 and costs R200 per rider. If you have families/junior riders/non-riders/boyfriends/girlfriends that want to check-in to Mhara first, then arrival at Mhara should be no later than 12:00 on Friday, 31st May – riders to leave from Mhara to Serendipity at 13:00. Those that want to go straight to Serendipity and then onto Mhara after the ride should meet at Serendipity no later than 13:30. (Serendipity is closer to the offramp from the highway so if you are all riders, it makes sense to go there first). Bear in mind the 2nd EWXC this year was held at Serendipity a few weeks ago and the course was fantastic and still available to ride.
The Mhara ride is our “main event”. Awesome single-track and 4x4 road raw bushveld riding with some river beds and rocks thrown in for good measure – all among an abundance of wildlife on 3500 hectares of private game farm land. The degree of tech that we will give you will depend on the group; we are out to have fun and not to hurt or disappoint anyone on the ride. As mentioned above, if you are a raw rookie this ride may not be for you, but if you are still keen to join us on the weekend, alone or with family, you are more than welcome and I am very happy to take you on a more chilled ride later in the day where you can still experience riding in the wild and still get to try out one or both of the MotoPro demo bikes. For those on the “main event” ride, we begin shortly after breakfast and usually return back to the camp after lunch. Lunch for the rider is in the form of drinks and sandwiches brought to us in the bush on the game viewing vehicle (your non-riding partners/family welcome to go for a ride to bring us lunch).
The new MotoPro RR250 and RR450 Enduro bikes will be joining us on the weekend and you will all have a chance to give them a try. These are two exciting new fully specced 4-stroke entries into the local enduro market and are going to hit the floors at new bike prices that will make your eyes pop out in disbelief! I have already given the 450 a go and was blown away. Surprisingly awesome fun.
Friday night and Saturday night’s dinner are a bring-and-braai affair. There will be sides supplied, you just need to bring whatever it is you plan on slapping on the fire! Braais with fire are provided as are braai tongs, cutlery and crockery. (Braai packs, beef or chicken, are available by pre-arrangement).
The weekend includes a plated breakfast on Saturday morning and Sunday morning in the main boma’s dining room.
Lunch is your own affair although sandwiches and drinks will be brought out to the riders on the Saturday ride out in the bush. There is a fully stocked bar available, but you are welcome to bring your own drinks if you’d prefer. Drinks purchased from the bar will be for your own account.
Saturday’s ride will begin shortly after breakfast. Breakfast will be served at 7:30. After Saturday’s main ride, there will be a very tame kids and newbies ride.
Game drives are available on request for non-riders (and riders if you want) at no charge.
