Well mud lovers, here it is. So far, uncle Cyril is not stopping provincial travel so our TrAsh Racing Dads (and moms) and Lads and Lasses Safari Ride Weekend is still good to go.

The dates – Friday 19th March 2021 to Monday 22nd March 2021. (Monday 22nd is a public holiday). The package below includes being together for the nights of 19th, 20th and 21st March.

The place – Mhara Game Lodge. An awesome 5,500 hectare private game farm only two hours from Johannesburg, just past Mookophong (Naboomspruit). The farm is teaming with all the antelope, wildebeest, giraffe, zebra, etc. that you can imagine. In a fenced off section, there is buffalo and hippo, which makes the greater portion of the farm relatively safe for walking or cycling on well-marked routes and, of course, dirt biking!!! The accommodation is amazing, the nature awesome, the dirt biking out of this world, the hospitality fantastic and the experience something to remember! There are game drives available for both riders and non-riders at no extra cost. Spa treatments and/or massages can be enjoyed with prior arrangement.

For the dirt bikers, all skill levels are welcome. For those that are still rookies or quite young, we will make sure that you get an awesome ride in on both Saturday and Sunday with the main group with lunch and refreshments brought to us in the bush. After we have delivered the “lesser skilled” riders back to camp, we can head out for another loop in some more challenging terrain for those that want to.

The pricing for the weekend has a few different options – a base price for the 3 nights per person, slightly varying depending on which camp you book in. There is obviously a reduced price for non-riders and a substantial discount for kids under 12.

Additional to the base price, options include:
  • a plated breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings,
  • braai packs (including sides), and
  • sides for those that bring their own braai meat
  • Sides are also priced for an entire family or individual
The usual drill is self-catering. Of course, if you book breakfasts, then that will take care of that. Riders will enjoy sandwiches and refreshments for lunch out in the bush on Saturday and Sunday during their ride. Non-riders will need to take care of themselves for lunch. Dinners are in the form of a communal braai each night. Braais and fire and utensils are all taken care of, you just need to bring what you intend eating!

You are welcome to bring your own drinks (providing we’re allowed to get any at that time) but there is a well-stocked bar at Mhara for your convenience.

The three camps available to choose from with slightly varied pricing options per camp are:

Nyala Camp
  • 8 luxury self-catering units each with 2 bedrooms and en-suite bathroom (bath and shower in each), kitchen and lounge. 6 chalets have a queen-sized bed in one room and 2 ¾ beds in the other. 2 chalets have 4 ¾ beds in them.
  • All our catering and meals are served in our Conference / Dining area.
  • We have a large pool (25m x 12m) and a Boma where one may enjoy sundowners around a camp fire in the evening.
  • The camp is enclosed with electric fence; however, we do have Nyala who roam around freely inside the camp, hence the name “Nyala Camp”.
  • Given that the 2 bedrooms have their own private en-suite bathrooms, we have the ability to provide accommodation to two parties of 2 provided both parties are ok with sharing the chalet (if this is the case, we can provide a family price for braai sides too – see below for these details).
Bushwhacked (Bush) Camp
  • 8 self-catering units (studio) with 2 single beds and a bathroom (shower only), and coffee making facilities with fridge / freezer. These are what one would call the more rugged units, however, still luxurious.
  • The camp is situated in the bushveld and is not fenced. We have numerous animals which roam this camp namely giraffe, nyala, impala, blesbuck etc.
  • Bushwhacked is in walking distance from the Nyala Camp (approximately 200m)
  • The units are primarily used for self-catering clients and share a communal kitchen and boma / braai area.
  • We regret no children permitted in this camp as there is no game fencing
Rhino & Buffalo Camp
  • 4 sleep only units with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom (separate toilet). Master bedroom has 1 x King bed and the second bedroom has 2 x double beds. There is a shower and bath in the bathroom.
  • There are coffee making facilities and fridge / freezer only.
  • There is a large pool and lapa in the camp. The communal kitchen is in the lapa.§
